Cohen has over 25 years of experience, in the private and public sector, predominantly in Local Government. With over 15 of those years in senior and executive leadership roles, the last two years as Baw Baw Shire Council’s Director Strategy & Organisational Performance and most recently as their Interim CEO.
Cohen’s leadership experience spans across people & culture, corporate strategy, business transformation, finance, infrastructure, waste management, environment sustainability, sport and recreation, community and family children’s services.
Cohen Van der Velde is a qualified Civil Engineer and an Executive MBA alumni of RMIT, Australia and Aarhus University, Denmark.
Cohen is passionate about developing leaders for tomorrow and building high performing teams. He is an International Coaching Federation Associate Certified Leadership Coach, a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, experienced facilitator and the founder of leadership consultancy illustrate.work, working with managers, executives and team to better meet their potential.
