This presentation showcases key insights and process advancements derived from the 2021 Storm Event and subsequent severe weather events in February and September 2024. Through a structured approach to disaster response, our team has refined data collection methodologies, optimized resource utilization, and implemented innovative digital solutions to enhance resilience and recovery efforts.

Key outcomes (successes) from the February 2024 Storm Event include:

  • Comprehensive road network inspections completed within 24 hours post-event.
  • Full road network reopening within 36 hours.
  • Contractor engagement within 72 hours.
  • Storm cleanup finalized within eight weeks.
  • A 99.31% success rate in securing DRFA reimbursement.

Further advancements have been made through the development of a Digital Storm Map Layer, which enables:

  • Real-time logging of road impacts.
  • Enhanced community access to live road impact and closure data.
  • Streamlined data collection for future DRFA claims.
  • An integrated digital platform for monitoring, scheduling, and closing out completed works.

This session will provide valuable insights into the strategies and technological innovations that have strengthened our disaster recovery framework, ensuring faster response times, improved coordination, and greater financial accountability.
