The City of Ballarat's shared e-scooter trial, launched in December 2021, provides insights into the role of micromobility in regional areas. It demonstrates the potential of micromobility to complement transports systems as a flexible mode that contributes to a more sustainable and connected community. This trial, part of a broader initiative by the Victorian State Government, also aimed to inform the development of a regulatory framework for local micromobility solutions. This presentation aims to provide valuable insights into the role and practical implementation of micromobility solutions in regional urban areas, by focusing on the trial’s successes and challenges, data, operational, regulatory and behavioural issues.
